SOME TECHNOLOGY TRAINING IDEAS

Here are some suggestions for technology training for our staff that is available from various sources, some public and some private...some free and some fee-based...

Global Connections Online
This is the project funded by National Semiconductor.   They provided some Inernet training for our staff earlier this year.   They now have an accredited online course (five modules) sanctioned by the Uiversity of California at Santa Cruz.  Anyone may register as a Global Connections Online participant.  To register for the course or find out more about it, visit the site at  http://www.nsglobalonline.com/

Institute of Computer Technology (ICT)
Located at 589 West Fremont Avenue in Sunnyvale, ICT has many courses offered in applications on both the Windows & Mac platforms.  They also have some classes located at Los Gatos High School.  You can visit their online schedule for May through September 2000 at  http://www.ict.org/ or ask Jim Borkenhagen to see the hard copy of the course schedule. ICT also has an online partnership with UCSD at http://www.ict.org/ucsd.html

Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE)
SCCOE hosted a summer Internet Institute 2000 that addressed many of the issues about using the internet with students.  Three 8-day sessions were offered in July.  College credit or Continuing Education Units were available from San Jose State.  The cost was $50 for public school teachers.  To read more about it, go to  http://etc.sccoe.org/i2000/
