Rosalba Aguilar

My Life

My name is Rosalba Aguilar. I was born in Michoacan, and I grew up in Mexico City. I began school when I was six years old. I went to elementary school, but I didn't finish high school because I went to work when I was 15 years old.

When I was seventeen years old, my sister and I came to the United States. First we lived in Los angeles, CA. and afterwards we moved to San Jose, CA. When I arrived in the United States, I wasn't very happy. I missed my family and I still miss my family now. I soon began to work in a Jack-in-the-Box restaurant. I worked there for four years and met my husband. in 1997 we got married.

Two years ago we had a son. Now my son began school. And I go to school at Overfelt Adult Center because I need to learn to write and read English. I like to come to school because it is very important in this country to know English.
