My Story

I was born in Vietnam. My family was big. There were seven kids in my family. There were four brothers and three sisters. My family was poor and happy. My family had a very good life. My mom stayed home and took care of her children, and my father was in the army. We were very happy. Every weekend we went to church. I went to school when I was seven years old. I went to a small school every day. I always went to school on foot. I was very happy with my best friends and enjoyed school with my teacher.

Then, ten years later, I stopped because there was war in South Vietnam. the government was changed. In South Vietnam families were sad. There were many people who came to America by boat. Then, I went to America with my young brother and little son. They wanted freedom.

When I came to the United States, the huge cities with factories and tall buildings made me bewildered. There were many cars. The people spoke English, but I didn't understand English. I needed to study English. I hope I will be better.

Now, I'm living together with my husband and two kids in a small house in San Jose. I have three brothers living in Hawaii, one sister living in L. A. and my mom, brother and sister are living in Vietnam.

Right now, I don't have a job. I just go to school to study English. I really like the class because all my friends are very friendly. I hope I'm going to study better than before. I want to look for a good job for my life.
