East Side Adult Education's "City Connections" classes met during the spring of 2002 with support from EL Civics funding. These unique classes combined English language acquisition with community access skills. Students learned to use public transit and practiced English on field trips to public service sites in our San Jose community. Upon completion of the classes, many students reported they met a personal goal and increased involvement in community activities.
